Everyone seems to be a part of the mining sensation including Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s 11 year old son Kiran Pichai. Sundar Pichai commented with pride about how his son had been spending time mining for etherum. The conversation between father and son took place during a dinner together when Sundar Pichai was corrected by his 11 year old about the difference between ehterum and bitcoins.
Sundar commented “He is 11 years old and he told me he is mining it” He went on to say how his son had more knowledge about this than that of the actual paper money system of the nation. His crypto minded son understood how etherum worked more than paper money. “I had to talk to him about the banking system, the importance of it. It was a good conversation.’’
This came to light at the New York Times DealBook Conference after being asked how he felt about a latest study that showed that parents living in the Silicon Valley and who were in the tech field were the most concerned about screen time and addiction among their children. Sundar who is in the tech field himself and lives in the Silicon Valley said “I’m like every other parent I guess”
He is aware of the problem and has to be careful since he brings many gadgets home to test. He then went on to talk about how his son is currently mining etherum. He was asked if there was any server which was helping Kiran in his mining to which Sundar said that his family had a simple computer but it was one that he had built himself.
Sundar Pichai was one of the keynote speakers at the DealBook Conference also spoke about the #metoo movement and supported Google employees who around the world walked out in protest against sexual harassment.
Pichai’s son isn’t the only crypto currency enthusiast. Google cofounder Sergey Brin have been mining etherum. In a recent conference held in Morocco hosted by Richard Branson, Brin discussed the potential of blockchain technology. He got interested once his son insisted him into buying a gaming PC. Brin agreed but in return they would mine cryptocurrency. “So we set up an etherum miner on there, and we’ve made a few pennies, a few dollars since” He also confessed that Google had been slow in picking up blockchain technology. He admitted he didn’t know much about it but found it “extraordinary and mind boggling “ He can see the future taking these research ideas and making them real.
